Writers Open Mic Night takes place in our Writers Studio (921 N 8th) usually the first Wednesday of every month. But this month we are on the 13th.

Led by local musician, Jon Doll, people in our community share their voices and talents through their fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and songs. It is an opportunity for people to learn from and with other folks; participants make meaningful and impactful connections to the material and each other throughout the experience. It is an inclusive event (rooted in equity) that celebrates peoples identities, thoughts, feelings, ideas, and needs.

Process for the event:

• Sign up upon arrival and list your genre of writing (ie, songwriter, poet, essayist, etc.)

• Max time limit of 8 minutes per writer (including introduction of material)

• Order is determined by when people arrive at the event (i.e., the first one to show up gets to select their position in the order of performance.) Once everyone has had a chance to present, the cycle begins again.
