As Lauren tries to puzzle out how she could be married to someone she can’t remember meeting, Michael goes to the attic to change a lightbulb and abruptly disappears. In his place, a new man emerges, and a new, slightly altered life re-forms around her. Realizing that her attic is creating an infinite supply of husbands, Lauren confronts the question: If swapping lives is as easy as changing a lightbulb, how do you know you’ve taken the right path? Neurodivergent BookClub

The Neurodivergent Book Club’s focus is to discover what other neurodivergent minds see in the books they read. Our individual neurodiversity provides each of us a different view of the world around us. Let’s celebrate our different ways of looking at the world through books and build a neurodivergent community together.

Folks will be discussing: You Will Find Your People by Lane Moore. The discussion will be led by Brian Cummings.

From Lane Moore, the award-winning, critically acclaimed author of How to Be Alone, comes a searingly intimate, yet wildly funny, exploration of the frustrating, messy, and, at times, deeply joyful experience of learning how to make meaningful friendships as an adult.

Part memoir, part self-help, You Will Find Your People uncovers the complex, frightening, and often vulnerable process of building real, healthy friendships and finally creating your chosen family. Lane Moore takes readers on a journey that examines and challenges the ideas of friendship we’ve seen in pop culture, answers every question you’ve ever had about friend breakups, and teaches us how to fearlessly ask for what we want in friendships once and for all.

Full of Moore’s hilarious personal anecdotes, advice on how to identify your attachment style, and real tools to create better communication and boundaries, this book is your personal guide on how to heal from your past friendships, improve your current ones, and finally have the friendships we know we deserve.

Brian is a newly realized neurodivergent IT professional who has had a lifelong obsession with reading. He enjoys hiking, camping, reading, and is a lifelong learner.  He has stood up for what is right since he was a young child and today advocates to make the world a more accessible place for all.

Neurodivergent BookClub w/ Brian Cummings

The Neurodivergent Book Club’s focus is to discover what other neurodivergent minds see in the books they read. Our individual neurodiversity provides each of us a different view of the world around us. Let’s celebrate our different ways of looking at the world through books and build a neurodivergent community together.

This month this book they are discussing is the short story collection: Baby, You’re Gonna Be Mine by Kevin Wilson.

Filled with imagination and humor, Baby, You’re Gonna Be Mine is an exuberant collection of captivating and charmingly bizarre stories that promise to burrow their way into your heart and soul.

“Wildfire Johnny” is the story of a man who discovers a magic razor that allows him to travel back in time. “Scroll Through the Weapons” is about a couple taking care of their underfed and almost feral nieces and nephews. “Signal to the Faithful” follows a boy as he takes a tense road trip with his priest. And “Baby, You’re Gonna Be Mine,” the title story, is about a narcissistic rock star who moves back home during a rough patch. These stories all build on each other in strange and remarkable ways, showcasing Wilson’s crackling wit and big heart.

Brian is a newly realized neurodivergent IT professional who has had a lifelong obsession with reading. He enjoys hiking, camping, reading, and is a lifelong learner.  He has stood up for what is right since he was a young child and today advocates to make the world a more accessible place for all.

TreeHouse BookClub: This American Ex-Wife w/ CJ Holstine

This month, we will be talking about: This American Ex-Wife by Lyz Lenz.

Everyone is welcome- whether you have read/listened to the entire book, have read/listened to part of it, and/or are just curious to learn more (warning: there will be spoilers).

Free Event.

NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • A deeply validating manifesto on the gender politics of marriage (bad) and divorce (actually pretty good!) in America today, and an argument that the former needs a reboot—from journalist and proud divorcée Lyz Lenz

“This American Ex-Wife is a bomb, a bouquet (but not a wedding bouquet), a memoir, a manifesto, and a total joy to read.”—Rebecca Solnit, author of Men Explain Things to Me

Studies show that nearly 70 percent of divorces are initiated by women—women who are tired, fed up, exhausted, and unhappy. We’ve all seen how the media portrays divorcées: sad, lonely, drowning their sorrows in a bottle of wine. Lyz Lenz is one such woman whose life fell apart after she reached a breaking point in her twelve-year marriage. But she refused to take part in that tired narrative and decided to flip the script on divorce.

In this exuberant and unapologetic book, Lenz makes an argument for the advantages of getting divorced, framing it as a practical and effective solution for women to take back the power they are owed. Weaving reportage with sociological research and literature with popular culture along with personal stories of coming together and breaking up, Lenz creates a kaleidoscopic and poignant portrait of American marriage today. She argues that the mechanisms of American power, justice, love, and gender equality remain deeply flawed, and that marriage, like any other cultural institution, is due for a reckoning. A raucous argument for acceptance, solidarity, and collective female refusal, This American Ex-Wife takes readers on a riveting ride—while pointing us all toward a life that is a little more free.

Everyone is welcome! This is a FREE event.

The "brilliant, funny, meaningful novel" (The New Yorker) that established J. D. Salinger as a leading voice in American literature--and that has instilled in millions of readers around the world a lifelong love of books.

"If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth."

The hero-narrator of The Catcher in the Rye is an ancient child of sixteen, a native New Yorker named Holden Caufield. Through circumstances that tend to preclude adult, secondhand description, he leaves his prep school in Pennsylvania and goes underground in New York City for three days.

I’ve been doing drag since the beginning of March and I ABSOLUTELY love everything about this art form. My favorite thing about drag, is that I have been able to express myself, my creativity, and gender-expression in ways that I never thought were possible for me. I also love that drag has given me a platform and a voice to help inspire LGBTQ+ youth for future generations. And a fun fact about me, I have a 6 year old tuxedo cat named Steve!

Hey there, darlings! I'm Lyla Christina, a fierce new queen on the scene from Sheboygan, WI. Since June 2023, I've been on an incredible journey of self-expression and transformation. Born in the legendary clubs of New York City, I had the honor of networking with icons Susanne Bartsch and Amanda Lepore, who ignited my passion for performing.
Drawing inspiration from the enchanting world of Disney princesses, the fierce energy of Britney Spears, and the stunning Christina Aguilera, I bring a unique blend of magic, pop, and glamour to the stage.

Offstage, I love attending community events, watching random documentaries about outer space, and traveling to new far away places!

Through the art of drag, I've discovered a new perspective: seeing the world as a more beautiful place. It's been an amazing adventure of self-discovery and spreading love. Get ready to be dazzled as I take you on a journey of enchantment, empowerment, and pure entertainment!

Aurora Kashmere is the Alternative Glamour Ghost from the Fox Valley. She started drag as a way to continue her love of theatre and as a form of self expression. After only doing drag for a few months, she entered and won her first pageant and her drag career exploded. Drag has become a creative outlet for Aurora and you can always know that she had her hand in making all of her drag concepts and looks to bring you a unique experience.

Jessica Bee is a 26 year old entertainer that found her passion for drag in the local Green Bay drag scene. Starting as an avid consumer of local drag, she started performing in November of 2021. Over the past two and a half years Jessica has had the privilege of sharing her love for gender expression and the art of drag all over the state of Wisconsin from Madison to Milwaukee, the Fox Valley and beyond. She can most often be found at her home bar, Napalese Lounge in Green Bay, where she hosts and directs her own monthly show. She recently competed for and won the title of Miss Napalese Lounge 2024.

Though she has roots in Los Angeles and Vancouver Island, she currently resides in Wisconsin with her family and her feisty Siberian cat.

More info: https://www.carlalunabooks.com/

Their home has always included a menagerie of pets. At least one or two rescue dogs, several hamsters, a pair of birds, frogs and a turtle named Maury.

As a journalism major, she’s inclined to keep up with news, but dives deep into celebrity gossip for fun. She has a love for magazine subscriptions because they drop in her mailbox like Christmas gifts. Flipping through the pages, she always finds story nuggets for her novels.

Banned BookClub w/ Ryan Burg: The Last Temptation of Christ

This month we will be discussing: The Last Temptation of Christ by Nikos Kazantzakis.

This session will be led by School Board Member, Ryan Burg.

Everyone is welcome! This is a FREE event.

Hailed as a masterpiece by critics worldwide, The Last Temptation of Christ is a monumental reinterpretation of the Gospels that brilliantly fleshes out Christ’s Passion. This literary rendering of the life of Jesus Christ has courted controversy since its publication by depicting a Christ far more human than the one seen in the Bible. He is a figure who is gloriously divine but earthy and human, a man like any other—subject to fear, doubt, and pain.

In elegant, thoughtful prose Nikos Kazantzakis, one of the greats of modern literature, follows this Jesus as he struggles to live out God’s will for him, powerfully suggesting that it was Christ’s ultimate triumph over his flawed humanity, when he gave up the temptation to run from the cross and willingly laid down his life for mankind, that truly made him the venerable redeemer of men.

As a parent, one of Ryan's favorite activities was reading chapter books to his then young children. Through their shared experiences with him, Max and Alex still remember how to make sugar snow from Little House In The Big Woods, what Winnie the Pooh called Heffalumps and Woozles really are, and the definition of the word allegory from The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe. His love of reading to young kids is just as strong today, as Ryan volunteers at Bookworm Gardens regularly. Ryan currently serves on the Sheboygan Area School District Board of Education, a position he has held for 11 years; and is also a Senior Associate at HSA Bank.

Led by local musician, Jon Doll, people in our community share their voices and talents through their fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and songs. It is an opportunity for people to learn from and with other folks; participants make meaningful and impactful connections to the material and each other throughout the experience. It is an inclusive event (rooted in equity) that celebrates peoples identities, thoughts, feelings, ideas, and needs.

Process for the event:

  • Sign up upon arrival and list your genre of writing (ie, songwriter, poet, essayist, etc.)

  • Max time limit of 8 minutes per writer (including introduction of material)

  • Order is determined by when people arrive at the event (i.e., the first one to show up gets to select their position in the order of performance.) Once everyone has had a chance to present, the cycle begins again.

  • Emceed by Jon Doll

Drag StoryTime w/ Anita Bobbypin

Anita Bobbypin will be reading some awesome kids’ books and leading the audience in fun activities at this all-ages, Free Event!

My name is Anita Bobbypin, I am 25 years old. My favorite color is PINK! I am a Cosmetologist and a new drag queen in the Fox Valley area.
